A thunderstorm followed by a lack of wind prevented the opening races for the International Flying Fifteen 2026 European Championship from taking place on Palma Bay, Mallorca.
The fleet will have to wait until to get the competition underway. The first races are now scheduled for Thursday.
Earlier the Flying Fifteen Spanish Open, a two-day regatta in the beautiful Bay of Pollenca, was held at the Reial Club Nàutic Port de Pollença, the local Flying 15 stronghold on Mallorca, over the 3-4 October before the fleet moved to Club de Mar Mallorca, in Palma for the Europeans.
The Open at Port de Pollença was won by ESP 4005 of Victor Perez and Mark Branagh of CMSAP – C’an Pastilla, second ESP 3650 Bernardo and Marcos Arndt of the local club, and third GBR 4143 Charles and Charlie Apthorp of Hayling Island SC.
31 crews representing 5 countries are competing in the European Championship scheduled to finish on Saturday 10 October.
