Emirates Great Britain have sent a message to the fleet with a commanding title defense – claiming a season-opening victory in the Oracle Perth Sail Grand Prix, presented by KPMG.

The numbers say it: the 2025 season for the Melges 24 International Class has been epic.

The NorthStar SailGP Team wrapped up an exhilarating weekend on the water with a sixth-place overall finish at the Oracle Perth Sail Grand Prix, marking an important step forward as the 2026 Rolex SailGP Championship commenced.

Day Two on Sydney Harbour was a historic day for the championship when the German team of Black Knight (Heinrich Von Bayern, Tom Martin and Andy Martin) became the first international team to win a heat of the title in its 114-year-old history.

A lovely 15 knot easterly, blue skies and a nice rolling swell with choppy waves, all combined to provide interesting beats and excellent surfing downwind. The open ocean conditions and excellent courses made for top quality racing

A very light and shifting SE breeze greeted a superb turnout of 23 crews for 2 races. As the drizzle fizzled in and out, so did the breeze, but the RO managed to set a great course.

With the lake deemed fit to race, competitors having to relocate to the main clubhouse slipway to launch, with the amazing shore team working with jugs of boiling water frantically de-icing frozen sheets, blocks, centreboards, it was game on!
