It’s been a challenging series so far for many reasons. A weekend of heavy weather resulting in one day lost due to heavy winds, one weekend with both heavy and light winds and this, a very light weekend with only three out of the four races manageable.

The inaugural “World” Supsail Championship Race happened last weekend at Maidenhead Sailing Club. Ten thrusting paddleboarders took to the waters armed with trusty paddle and the world’s finest fastest folding sail – the Supsail.

With two races to go the Royal Temple Yacht Club Ramsgate’s Autumn series and 2025 Club Championships are hotting up, with a number of boats still in contention. After a postponement for wind the forecast 8-12 knots set in with very hazy sunshine.

In contrast to the breezy conditions of the week before, it was a very calm end to Horning Sailing Club’s summer season Regatta over the weekend. Racing took place on Hoveton Little Broad for the final time this year.

The Fastnet Race is meant to be a test of skill and endurance – a prestigious offshore race on one of the sport’s toughest courses. To this day, it remains a bucket list challenge for many. In 1979, it became a tragedy that reshaped safety at sea.

This past weekend saw the first round of the Solent Super Series, now in its third year. The four round, max four crew format, will visit Yarmouth and Lymington before finishing with the final round in Gosport in late November.
