In contrast to the sun and heat of previous weeks, Saturday dawned cloudy and while still warm a brisk Easterly gave Principal Race Officer Gordon Sutton a tricky job of setting a course with a decent beat.

With just a couple of days to go, the excitement is building in anticipation of the Nacra 15 World Championship 2026, jointly hosted in Plymouth by the Plym Yacht Club and Hooe Point Sailing Club.

Saturday 18th July saw the Northern RS200 fleet dusting off their passports and heading for Ynys Mon for the Red Wharf Bay open meeting, the fifth event in the 2026 Sailing Chandlery sponsored RS200 Northern Tour series.

Jenna Gibson and Matteo Iachino continue to lead, but Justine Lemeteyer and Pierre Mortefon remain within striking distance after another exciting day of racing.

There were three days of racing and partying, 13 boats, in 6 races, packed with incidents, shouting and hilarity. There was even a Goan style sunset and raving on the balcony. Ok! That was just me.

With the wind staying light from the north and the tide weakening but still south flowing it was mostly the usual culprits who set the pace in IRC and YTC classes 4-6 on a windward-leeward course starting from the Club line off the harbour.

James Buley and the Le Tigre team delivered a flawless performance on Thursday, winning all four races to extend their lead at the 2026 J/80 World Championship hosted by CORK/Sail Kingston at Portsmouth Olympic Harbour.

An afternoon start on the fifth and penultimate day of the 2026 International Six Metre European Championship on Lake Geneva, Switzerland saw the event’s 50-strong fleet of 30 Classic and 20 Open yachts complete the seventh and penultimate race.
