Last weekend saw the 2025 River Exe Regatta dinghy racing hosted by Starcross Yacht Club. The Regatta includes activities run by all the River Exe clubs, this year having a windsurfer race at Exe SC.

A very select group of Merlin Rocket crews arrived at Mumbles Yacht Club for the combined Craftinsure Silver Tiller and the HD Midland Circuit event anticipating the same great hospitality and race management we experienced at the last event.

Salcombe Merlin Rocket Week (29 June – 4 July), one of the most vibrant and fiercely competitive events on the UK dinghy calendar, proved to be the ultimate real-world test for the TEMO 1000 electric outboard motor.

Gunfleet Sailing Club hosted the 2025 Comet Nationals from June 6-8, a three-day event attracting 29 entries (including 9 ladies) from as far afield as Cornwall and Scotland. The competition was hot, because 5 Comet National Champions were in the fleet.

David McDiarmid’s Honda Marine 18 footer team had just completed its three-in-a-row winning run at the 2020 JJ Giltinan World Championship on Sydney Harbour when the Covid pandemic hit and suspended the New Zealand 18ft skiff challenge until 2024.

After tough conditions out in the bay on Day 1, Day 2 brought all fleets into the flatter waters of Portland Harbour, where a fresh 18 knot breeze served up champagne foiling conditions.

The opening inshore clash of the 2025 Admiral’s Cup was a gritty, high-octane showdown packed with drama and razor-sharp tactics.

The UK is the place to be right now if you’re a sailor, and I don’t think I’ve ever known a time when so many great events are happening concurrently.
