Monday 15th June marked the close of entries for the 44th Copa del Rey Mapfre. Once again, the Mediterranean’s premier sailing regatta has met participation expectations, with six highly competitive classes and more than 100 registered teams.

The 2026 World Sailing Annual Conference and World Sailing Awards will be held in Qingdao, known as China’s sailing capital, in the Shandong Province from 16-21 November 2026.

With six weeks still to go until the initial entry deadline, some forty teams from ten nations including the UK, Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and the USA have already confirmed their intention to race.

I’ve attended a couple of X-Yachts Gold Cups in Denmark, one in Aarhus and one in Haderslev, which has been the obvious location for the Danish boatyard to host events, but the yachts, and their sailors, have naturally ventured further afield.

On June 14th Blithfield greeted our stalwart Midland sailors to a breeze which was slightly more than predicted initially with cloud cover and full sit up conditions upwind for the HD Sails Midland Circuit Open 2026.

The three damaged F50s involved in the start-line pile-up in the New York round of SailGP, are “targeted” to make a return at this weekend’s SailGP event in Halifax, Canada. They will be joined by NZ’s Black Foils after a four-regatta timeout.
