On Sunday 12th April Papercourt Sailing Club hosted the ILCA Thames Valley Grand Prix Open Meeting. The forecast looked good and we were rewarded with sunshine and a moderate south westerly breeze making ideal sailing conditions.

What a day on the water at French Olympic Week in Hyères. Strong afternoon winds delivered high-intensity racing and significantly reshuffled the leaderboard.

Thorpe Bay Yacht Club put on a fantastic ‘start of the season’ event for the Beastie Tour. The weather was great, 45 contestants had entered, nine Optimist boats, six RS Feva XLs, nine RS Tera Pro, eleven RS Tera Sport and ten ILCA 4 & 6 boats.

The Mirror is currently experiencing a significant resurgence in popularity – it’s found a niche as an alternative method of getting kids into sailing, in a social and more relaxed way that then traditional RYA classes.

On Saturday the Solo fleet gathered at Upper Bittell Reservoir for the Solo Class Open, sponsored by Allen and CB Trailer Store. Hosted by Barnt Green Sailing Club, the event delivered a day of close, tactical racing characterised by shifty conditions.

A fleet of twelve RS Vareos made the trip to Oxford Sailing Club at Farmoor reservoir to attend the Vareo and K6 open. When I say, “made the trip”, this was true for five boats, there was a strong home water contingent of seven boats.
