For many people, getting into sailing isn’t about learning the skills or finding the right club – it’s about logistics.

After last year’s successful, inaugural Challenger Open, Hykeham Sailing Club and Hykeham Sailability were keen to host the event again this year. The Challenger fleet was more than happy to return.

With less than a month to go, excitement is building for what is probably the UK’s most eagerly anticipated sailing event – the 2026 Colander Cup.

The Craftinusre Lark Youth Championships and Pre Nationals Training took place over the weekend of 18-19 April at Weymouth Sailing Club, bringing together a keen fleet of 10 boats for a mix of focused coaching and competitive racing.

Seven British Dragons travelled to Sanremo, Italy, for the first IDA Grade 1 event of 2026, making an immediate impact on the international circuit with an outstanding set of results.

Tradition has played an important part in 18ft skiff racing’s history, so it’s fortunate for the Australian 18 Footers League to have had many competitors, over the past 91 years, who have come down to the park each week to race their boats.

Hosted by Tayside Radio Sailing Club at Forfar Loch, the first MYA Scottish District IOM Travellers event of 2026 was held. Twelve skippers assembled for the event from five clubs all over Scotland and one skipper from the south of England.

Day two at the Semaine Olympique Française in Hyères marked the end of the preliminary series, setting the stage for the split into gold and silver fleets in the 49er and Nacra 17.

If Monday was Champagne sailing, Tuesday was a Mediterranean Millésimé – the vintage. If you created an exceptional blend capturing one side of sailing in Hyères – and you did not want to try and bottle the Mistral – it might look something like this.

The 2026 HD Sails Scottish Streaker Travellers Series got under way on April 18th at the Clyde Cruising Club venue at Bardowie Loch north of Glasgow, shared with the Solo traveller.
