More than 30 young sailors from Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales came together at Port Edgar over the weekend for RYA Scotland’s 2026 Celtic Cup – an annual event hosted on rotation between RYA sections.

The morning started with a very light SSW breeze. All participants and race officials were hoping that with the breeze being aligned to sea breeze direction and the bright, warm sunshine we might get a good breeze by 2pm start time.

At 07:30am the air temperature was plus 9, the water temperature was only plus 3 degrees, and the tri-swim folks were out in force for their morning dip. Twenty-one competitors had ventured out on this bright wintry morning.
