There were three days of racing and partying, 13 boats, in 6 races, packed with incidents, shouting and hilarity. There was even a Goan style sunset and raving on the balcony. Ok! That was just me.

With the wind staying light from the north and the tide weakening but still south flowing it was mostly the usual culprits who set the pace in IRC and YTC classes 4-6 on a windward-leeward course starting from the Club line off the harbour.

Summery conditions on the Solent continued for day four of British Classic Week with the Royal Yacht Squadron’s race committee led by Peter Saxton, following a one hour postponement to 1300.

An afternoon start on the fifth and penultimate day of the 2026 International Six Metre European Championship on Lake Geneva, Switzerland saw the event’s 50-strong fleet of 30 Classic and 20 Open yachts complete the seventh and penultimate race.

Slightly easier conditions for day 2 at Medemblik for the 49er, 49erFX, FX Open and Nacra 17 Junior World Championships. The 49er fleet, have now completed eight races. The running order flipped today, with the 49er fleet first off the line, yellow and blue groups both racing from 11:00. The wind was still up, just not quite as strong as day one, and once again every fleet got its full three races in without a hitch.

Two phrases were frequently repeated over the course of the glorious weekend at Parkstone: ‘it’s so hot’ and ‘wacky races’.
